PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of seven years’ comparable executive level experience is desired. In addition, we seek demonstrated competency across a broad range of executive and managerial functions appropriate to non-profit organizations of comparable size, including financial management, fund development, planning, board relations, communications, program delivery, marketing, and staff/volunteer relations leadership. Demonstrated leadership in organizations undergoing rapid transformations is highly desirable, as is experience with non-profit management. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree, with advanced education and training preferred. Skilled executives dedicated to providing world-class leadership development opportunities for the girls of this region are encouraged to apply.
THE COMMUNITIES AND JURISDICTION SERVED
Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Council serves a diverse mix of communities that include urban to rural environments; corporate, agriculture, tourist centers, and nationally ranked universities. With consistent mild temperatures year-round, the region boasts ample outdoor recreational activities and educational and cultural opportunities in abundance.
The Council’s jurisdiction spans California’s majestic central coast and a bountiful agricultural region, encompassing the counties of Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura. Included in this diverse geography are sophisticated, semi-urban communities; charming, world-renowned resort destinations; nostalgic beach towns; the scenic rural beauty of the Salinas Valley made famous through the writings of John Steinbeck (now the home of national agri-business giants); the rolling hills and vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley; the world’s largest strawberry and artichoke crops, vineyards spanning the length of the council’s jurisdiction, and a garden district which produces exotic orchids and other specialty flowers for markets across the nation. Woven throughout the region is a rich cultural heritage born of the broad diversity within the people of the region, as well as a spirit of innovation and intellectual curiosity fostered by the presence of several major colleges and universities.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
Starting base compensation of $130k+, with total compensation dependent on the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. The Council provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, liberal time-off, and other attractive features. Relocation support is to be negotiated.
