THE OPPORTUNITY
Girl Scouting is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2012 as the preeminent girl-focused organization in the United States. It remains unsurpassed in its ability to create opportunities for the empowerment of all girls through the collaboration of families, volunteers, staff, community partners, and funders. Girl Scouts of the USA sets the standard for youth-serving leadership development in theU.S.
Anna Maria Chávez, new national CEO, was introduced to the membership at the recent national convention in Houston. Ms. Chávez is initiating changes to bring even greater responsiveness to the needs of girls across the country, and an invigorated and focused team at the national headquarters is essential to this task. A key individual in this endeavor will be the Chief of Staff.
The Chief of Staff will be a member of the Executive Team, charged to lead the implementation of operational goals that translate the organization’s vision and strategy for the coming years. As the key member of the Office of the CEO, the Chief of Staff will coordinate all activities of the Office, representing the CEO in her absence, and be responsible for establishing inter- and intra-departmental milestones and metrics for performance by headquarters departments and their executive leaders. Serving as a key advisor and confidant to the CEO, the Chief of Staff will ensure follow-through on goals and objectives, and will eliminate barriers to coordination and cooperation. The incumbent will model best practices and support the CEO on initiatives across all groups within Girl Scouts of theUSAso that priorities are supported and communications on critical issues are made to stakeholders. Travel to approximately 30% is expected of this individual.
