At 100 years old in 2010, Camp Fire USA is one of America’s oldest and most progressive community based youth development organizations. Approximately 330,000 youth and teens, boys and girls, participate in Camp Fire programs annually, supported by more than 10,000 volunteers, 3,429 staff nationwide, and local and national board members. Total annual operating revenue is more than $60 million. Through its framework model of program quality and outcomes-based youth leadership and development, the nationwide network of 75 Camp Fire councils partner with community organizations and support families to build caring, confident youth and future leaders.

Reporting to the Chief External Relations Officer, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for the organization’s comprehensive external funding for programs and the corporate endowment. Will provide leadership to plan, organize and carry out the strategies to implement long range planning and tactics to increase and diversify the funding for the organization. This individual will partner closely with the National Board of Trustees, the President and CEO, and, in particular, Camp Fire council executives in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of significant philanthropic investment both to benefit the entire system as well as local councils.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Senior Philanthropy Officer will build on 7+ years’ experience in national non-profit funding relations with emphasis on youth development. Of particular importance is demonstrated experience in gaining funding from major national and regional foundations, successful grant development, major event sponsorship, and the identification and cultivation of high-impact corporate and individual donors. Essential factors for selection are the creativity, communications and interpersonal abilities to develop and passionately communicate Camp Fire USA’s vision and value proposition to funders. In addition, as a headquarters employee representing Camp Fire USA nationwide, the successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of business and organizational acumen and present him/herself in a very polished and professional manner. This position will require approximately 40%-50% national travel, and the candidate selected must be based near a major US airport. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree, with advanced degree and CFRE preferred. Must have experience with Raising More Money or similar fundraising management program. Above all, success in the achievement of significant, measurable and stretch funding goals is essential.
